Fossil Creek Stone is a quartzitic sandstone formed over 300 million years ago in the deserts of Eastern New Mexico. Formed by water deposits with a higher compressive strength (16,400 psi) and a lower absorption rate (2%), Fossil Creek Stone can be utilized in any climate and last for generations. It is a color consistent material, with its neutral beige to earth tone buff coloring. Beautiful natural cleft texture give flagstone a wonderfully appealing charm, combined with the strength and durability of natural stone.

“Storm” (water-jet or hydro-blast) finish on natural stone is a finishing technique that uses high-pressure water to erode the surface , creating a textured, matte, and non-slip finish. This method cleans and opens the stone’s pores while preserving its original color.

Fossil Creek “Storm” Treads are made of premium blocks, with all six sides sawn, and hand-chiseled edges (optional). “Storm” finish is applied on top surface via a rotating nozzle to wash away softer materials, and produce a non-reflective finish with a distinct, subtle texture. Unlike flamed finishes, water jetting does not heat the stone, meaning it keeps the stone’s natural color intact.
