Fossil Creek Stone is a quartzitic sandstone formed over 300 million years ago in the deserts of Eastern New Mexico. Formed by water deposits with a higher compressive strength (16,400 psi) and a lower absorption rate (2%), Fossil Creek Stone can be utilized in any climate and last for generations. It is a color consistent material, with its neutral beige to earth tone buff coloring. Fossil Creek Column Caps are used to seal and protect the top of masonry pillars, fence posts, and mailbox columns from weather damage, often creating 3/4-inch overhang for aesthetic “eyebrow” effects. Available sizes: 16″x16″, 18″x18″, 24″x24″, 30″x30″, 36″x36″. Finishes: Natural or Tumbled. Bottom can be natural or gauged. Standard thickness is 2″-3″.
